President – Hannah Whitson
Hannah Whitson is a senior in the public relations major, with a minor in business administration. Before becoming a Volunteer, Hannah called Kingsport, Tennessee home. Her professional background is based in public relations and human resource management. She is currently employed with Regal Entertainment Group as a public relations intern. Following graduation, she hopes to become a part of a company that upholds her ideal values. She is also considering returning to graduate school if she finds a more specialized field of interest. Long-term, Hannah would like to open her own foundation to give back to her community. Hannah’s compassion, morals, and values pave her way to success.
Vice President – Abigail Cox
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Abigail is a senior in the public relations major and is ecstatic to continue serving PRSSA as Vice President this year. She has completed public relations, social media, and marketing specific internships throughout her college career, and is currently employed as a digital marketing intern at Smarter Searches. Abigail also serves as the Vice President of Public Relations for the Panhellenic Council. She is passionate about the world of PR, marketing, and advertising and looks forward to beginning her career after graduation.
Public Relations Director – Fiona Sparks
Fiona is a senior public relations major with a minor in business. Although she now calls Knoxville home, Fiona grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The soon-to-be graduate and communications strategist has experience in technical research, non-profits and scientific innovation. Fiona has also served as an intern with the corporate social responsibility partnership between Smarter Searches and A Step Ahead Foundation of East Tennessee. Her professional goals are rooted in a dedication to serving others and infatuation for all things technology, with a special interest in strategy and corporate social responsibility. She is currently a communications consultant at IACMI – The Composites Institute. Fiona believes in having accountability, integrity, and transparency, in both her personal and professional endeavors. Her professional goals are rooted in her dedication and an infatuation for all things communications. Upon graduation, she is looking to diversify her public relations experience to become a global communicator and looks forward to making a difference by uncovering human truths.
New Member Development – Loren Gilbert
Loren is a junior public relations major and business minor. Loren is currently a social media intern with Tailgate Tennessee and has experience working with the Claiborne County Chamber of Commerce. Loren hopes to pursue a career in the retail field in the future. She is excited to be a PRSSA officer this year and learn more about the profession while helping others discover the Sammie Lynn Puett chapter of PRSSA.
Secretary – Jordan Carlson
Jordan is very excited to become a part of the PRSSA officers this year. Because of her passion for this organization, she intends to continue to help continue to build our chapter at the university. In addition, Jordan is looking forward to expanding her leadership skills. Being an officer for PRSSA is an honor and she cannot wait to serve in this position.
Treasurer – Michael Berry
Michael Berry is a Junior majoring in public relations and minoring in business. It is a privilege for him to have the opportunity to cultivate his leadership skills in this organization. He is looking forward to serving each member in PRSSA starting Fall 2018. As an active member of the Diversity Student Leaders Society and a former social media manager for Vol Tango, Michael looks forward to learning as much as he can about every aspect of PR.
